In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure. Bill Cosby.

Independent, local and organic

I don’t know whether this is just in Seattle but people tend to prefer businesses that are independent, local and organic minded. Yesterday I attended a beer dinner and had the chance to talk with one of the owners of Georgetown Breweries who are quite successful in Washington State. Their marketing manager explained that their success lies in the personal approach towards bars and restaurants who prefer to work with local breweries instead of the big boys. This trend is not new. In July, Starbucks – who has the most coffee shops in Seattle – opened a new store called “15th Avenue Coffee and Tea” in the alternative and hip Capitol Hill. This un-Starbucks uses ingredients from local suppliers and offers an interesting range of teas. The only reference to the big chain is “inspired by Starbucks” on the windows.
